1.
Dr. Donna
Wilkinson the College's Liaison Staff member will conduct the reaffirmation
“kick-off” consultation visit on November 13-14, 2000.
2. Dr. Goodson, Ann Isaac, Jerry Scheerer and Marilyn will attend the annual SACS meeting in December.
3. Marilyn Morris will also attend a pre-conference workshop for Self-Study Directors at the SACS Meeting
4. Spring of 2001 the Steering Committee will develop the Self-Study plan/manual.Morris recommended that the Steering Committee consider at a later meeting, placing all major, completed documents such as the Self-Study Manual, the Self-Study and Addendum and major supporting documents such as the College Fact Book, policy and procedure manuals on the VC Web page for ready access by College employees as well a the visiting committee chairperson and members.
5. The Self-Study process will begin fall of 2001 and will be completed fall, 2003. Self-Study recommendations/suggestions and corresponding action plans will be included in an addendum. December 1 would be the potential target date for having the Self-Study and Addendum completed and accessible.
6. There will be a preliminary site visit by the Chair of the visiting committee fall 2003.
7. In Feb. or March 2003, the visiting committee will conduct the site visit. Within 5-6 weeks the visiting committee chair will submit the report to the College for correction of factual errors.
8. The
College will have an opportunity to address the visiting team's recommendations
with determination of the outcome of the reaffirmation process at the December
2003 SACS Annual meeting.
Discussion
centered on selecting faculty and staff to serve on principal
committees.Several members voiced concerns about getting people involved in the
self-study process.Morris stated the Steering Committee would have the full
support from Goodson and the Deans in ensuring that there was broad
participation in the self-study process.The committee agreed to use a survey
format for soliciting 1st-3rd choices of faculty and
staff as to which principal committee they would wish to serve on. The survey
will reference the SACS Criteria for Accreditation Web site for faculty and
staff to review in making their principal committee choices.Principal committee
membership will be completed early in the spring semester.
