Call to Order: Hummel called the meeting to order at 1:33 p.m.
Minutes: The March 21, 2002 minutes were corrected by changing Undergraduate Instruction from 4.2.4 to 4.2.2 and approved.
No corrections were made to the minutes of April 4, 2002.
Critique of Section V.1: As with the last section critique, many suggestions, comments, and revisions were made to Section V.1. Blundell will take the recommendations and comments under advisement.
Following are details of the critiquing that apply to all sections:
q No commas inside parenthetical references
q Capitalize the Library when referring to the College’s library
q E-mail
q Web site
q SkillsTutor (disregard the notation of this word in the minutes of April 4, 2002)
q Web page
q 2000-2001 (not 2000/2001)
q Joe Dahlstrom’s title is Director of Libraries
q Include http://www for referring to a web site, not just www.
q When referencing an Internet site, use in the narrative only when it is essential, otherwise, place the site being referenced in the works cited section only
q eBooks
q For naming more than one table in the same section, use the section number followed by a dash and then the table number (i.e. 5.1.6-1, 5.1.6-2, etc.)
q After committee review of a section, do not use highlights when saving the report
q When referring to surveys, use “very satisfied”, “satisfied”, and “neutral” in reference to meeting standards, but each committee may use its discretion as to how to word it
A decision needs to be made on how to layout tables
within all reports.
There was discussion of whether to use a hyphen or dash when referring to University of Houston-Victoria. Hummel will check on this and will report the way we should indicate it.
Revision of Critiquing Schedule: Hummel pointed out that we are behind schedule and will stay behind if the critiquing process continues in this lengthy manner. Hummel instructed all committees (excluding Section V) to meet and critique their sections, as we did last week and today, before submitting their drafts to the Steering Committee. This would then better utilize the committee’s critiquing time for more substantive review.
The committee will finish critiquing Section V and start with Section VI.1 at the meeting on April 18th.
Other Business: None reported.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 4:23 p.m.
