Call to Order:  The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m.

Editing Issues:  Sekul stated that there should be some sort of deadline or point in the week when drafts are saved and ready for review, instead of Chairs making last minute changes and not allowing time for review, by the Committee, before the meetings.

Hummel asked the Committee if they felt the meetings were productive and necessary, and furthermore, what type of editing should this Committee be doing.  The Committee did consider the meetings to be productive and necessary and would like to continue as before with the editing and critiquing that it does.  The Committee also changed the editing/critiquing process slightly:  G. Hall and M. Hall will edit the drafts after the Steering Committee has critiqued the section.  The Principal Chair will notify G. Hall and M. Hall when the draft is ready for editing.

Critique of Subsection IV.2.4:  The Committee critiqued all of Subsection 4.2.4 with changes that included rewording, adding content, and confirming and citing references.

Recommendation changes follow.

q       Recommendation 4.2.4 E:  That the College clearly define “experimentation of methods to improve instruction” and that each division develop formal measures for evaluating such experimentation.

Change:  Delete.

q       Recommendation 4.2.4 H:  That each division develop a method to ensure that grading practices are consistent with the College’s grading criteria.

Change to:  That the Dean of Instructional Services review grading practices to ensure all courses are consistent with the College level grading standards.

q       Suggestion 4.2.4 a:  That Victoria College provide a full calendar week of reflection and analysis for each semester hour during an interim semester.

Change:  Delete.

Revision of Critiquing Schedule:  Hummel will review Committee member’s responses to the calendar questionnaire and then set the Steering Committee meeting schedule through the Fall Semester.

Other Business:  None.

Adjournment:  The meeting was adjourned at 4:16 p.m.
