Call To Order: Hummel called the
meeting to order at 2:30.
Approval Of Minutes: The minutes from
the April 12 meeting were approved.
Approve Style Guide: M. Hall
discussed editorial changes to the revised Style Guide draft. She recommended
using two columns for the must statements, single-spacing, and left-right
margin justification. Stewart suggested using 3/4" for the top-bottom,
left-right margins plus a binding edge. Hummel said this format would make it
very easy to read and would not encumber the text with repetition of the must
statements. Also, it would look better than what he has seen. Hummel asked
that a sample page be completed and distributed to committee members by the end
of the semester.
Approve The Self-Study Manual Structure:
The manual structure draft was not ready for presentation. Gary and Mary
Hall will meet with Hummel to discuss details for the manual structure.
Finalize
Sub-Committee Structure And Membership: Hummel asked committee
members to finalize their sub-committee structure and to send the information
to the recording secretary for revision. After committee members have
confirmed that their membership lists are correct, the completed list will be
printed in the FYI newsletter for campus-wide distribution. To coincide with
the publication of the newsletter Dr. Goodson will issue a memo stating the
importance of the Self-Study to the Institution, the importance of individual
participation, and the importance of the Self-Study process.
Changes To The Data Gathering Process: Scheerer
reported that Spaulding’s suggestion was to use WebCT as another tool in
organizing data. Scheerer said it might be more organized but he does not want
it to become an impediment to the process. G. Hall questioned the advisability
of using WebCT saying that it might make the process more difficult. After some
discussion Hummel instructed Scheerer to give serious consideration to the
matter and then make a decision.
Observations: Hummel stated that
his trip to Jefferson Community College was a very positive and worthwhile
experience. He told committee members that the site visiting committee members
had done their homework and were well prepared and thorough. Hummel said the
Self-Study report must present clear and accurate indications of the College’s
strengths as well as weaknesses.
Other Business: None.
Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at
3:10.
