Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 1:06 p.m.

Critique of Subsections IV.8 and IV.9: Stewart began by handing out a rewrite of Subsection 4.8. The Committee recommended adding a sentence and made an editing correction. Review of the final draft continued through Subsection 4.8.7 with suggestions to add introductory statements to some sections and reword a few sentences. The following are the Recommendation and Suggestion changes.

Recommendation 4.8.1 A: That the composition of search committees as described in The Victoria College Employee Handbook be revised to ensure that faculty from the division which is recruiting be in the majority.

Change to: See Mitzie's rewrite.

Recommendation 4.8.1 A: That the procedure outlined in The Victoria College Employee Handbook for selecting faculty be revised to indicate ultimate hiring authority

Change: Add to the end "and also be included in the Board Policy Manual".

Recommendation 4.8.3 D: That the College include all employment policies regarding adjunct faculty in The Victoria College Employee Handbook.

Change: Add to the end "and eliminate the Adjunct Handbook".

Recommendation 4.8.3 F: That the College establish procedures for ensuring student access to adjunct faculty and publish them in The Victoria College Adjunct Faculty Handbook. This should include a means of communication for night school faculty.

Change to: That the College establish and publicize procedures for ensuring student access to adjunct faculty. This should include a means of communication for night school faculty.

Suggestion 4.8.5 a: That the College revise its policy limiting compensation for faculty with experience to allow for discretion by the Dean of Instructional Services, with input from the Division Chair.

Change to: That the College revise and publish its policy for Group Classification for Faculty with regard to compensation for teaching and non-teaching experience.

Recommendation 4.8.6 B: That The Victoria College Employee Handbook be revised to indicate adoption of the statement on Academic Freedom and Responsibilities by the Board of Trustees, and that all policies adopted by the Board include the date of adoption in the Handbook.

Change: Revise to include date adopted.
