Concert Report Tips

Students must attend three concerts and write concert reports on them.

One must be a Symphony orchestra concert
One must be a Choral concert.
The third may be any type of concert.

For Success in Online Music Appreciation You Need

Requirements specific to Music Appreciation

  1. Time Required: 5-9 hours per week
  2. You must go to a testing center 4 times during the semester
  3. You must attend three live concerts this semester
  4. Reliable internet service, dial-up will not work.
  5. Microsoft Word
  6. Sound Card
  7. CD drive in computer or CD player

Computer Requirements Recommended

You must have a computer or access to one that meets a minimum setup standard. You may use the computers on campus, but be aware that the labs have scheduled hours.

 

Instructional Materials Required

  1. Music, An Appreciation, sixth brief edition by Roger Kamien
  2. Connect Music to accompany the textbook -- password to publisher's website
  3. Headset for PC computer (needed for testing in testing center)

  2. Shockwave Player
  3. Java
  4. Adobe Reader
  5. QuickTime or Media Player Classic to play mp3 files in exams

Required: Microsoft Word check the instructor's syllabus for more information. Microsoft Works is not supported.

Caution:  Microsoft Office 2007 applications (e.g.: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) use a different file format from previous versions. If you have Office 2007, you must use Mozilla Firefox as your web broswer.
