From the left ventricle the blood will flow through another
one-way valve that has three names. First, the left semilunar
valve because is is found on the left side of the heart. Second,
the aortic semilunar valve because the blood flow through this valve
into the aortic artery or trunk. The semilunar valves
(both right and left) were named such because when the valves are closed,
two of the cusps form the shape of a cresent
moon. The third name for this valve is the aortic valve.
The blood will flow into the aorta and all eventually all over the body.
